Dear prospective student
Thank you for your interest in the Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education program. It has been well documented that a serious shortage of classroom teachers exists in the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas just as it does in most of the rest of the country. In response to this, Covenant College has developed a program to assist in alleviating this problem. This program was designed as a non-traditional approach to teacher education aimed at giving the area’s paraprofessionals a structured way to earn a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and achieve a Georgia teaching certificate* if they have completed two years of college credits. Students will be able to attend and complete this program while retaining current employment in their schools.
Classes begin in July and January of each year and meet one evening a week for approximately 23 months.

* Students from states other than Georgia should determine the extent to which the state in which they plan to teach will recognize a Georgia teaching certificate.
